Intertwingling (Hazel Smith, Roger Dean, austraLYSIS. An interactive intermedia work, hypertext Hazel Smith, sound Roger Dean and austraLYSIS, image Roger Dean, programming Greg White. ) | 1998
Wordstuffs (Hazel Smith, Roger Dean, Greg White, austraLYSIS. An interactive intermedia work, hypertext Hazel Smith, sound and Roger Dean, web programming Greg White. A competitive commission from the Australian Film Commission for its StuffArt project (1997), displayed continuously from 1998-2017 on the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) web site. The commission specified that the entire work was to fit on a 1.4Mb floppy disc. It includes non-linear hypertext, multiple simultaneously interactive sound players (Quicktime midi instruments, in palindrome mode), flash animations and java wordwideweb applets displaying interactive word clouds, with associated sounds. This is the original code, playable (with effort) in 2018 in Safari on Mac (and possibly oher browsers/platforms), with the Quicktime 7, Flash and Shockwave plugins activated, and the 'legacy' Java runtime environment (1.6.0_65).
